The technique

What Is a Russian Manicure?

The Russian manicure is exacting in its dry technique, demanding exceptional precision, control and attention to every detail. Performed entirely without soaking, the technique allows the nail technician to work with specialized tools and an e-file to carefully refine the nail and surrounding area, creating an exceptionally clean, polished foundation.

This detailed preparation allows the product to be applied beautifully close to the nail line, creating the seamless, refined finish for which Russian manicures are known. At Palm, our Russian manicure is completed with HEMA-Free Builder Gel, adding structure and strength while helping protect the natural nail from everyday breakage.

Because every detail is considered, a Russian manicure is intentionally given more time than a traditional manicure. Your appointment is 95 minutes, allowing our technician to work with the care and precision the technique requires.

With proper care, a Russian manicure typically maintains its beautiful finish for approximately 3–4 weeks, depending on natural nail growth, lifestyle and aftercare.

The Builder Gel We Use.

For our Russian manicure we use HEMA-Free Builder Gel to create a structured overlay that adds support while maintaining an elegant, natural-looking finish. HEMA-free describes the formulation; it should not be interpreted as allergy-free. As with any gel system, correct application, curing and removal are important.

The Technique, Step by Step

01

Consultation & Nail Assessment

We begin by assessing the natural nails and discussing your preferred length, shape and finish.

02

Dry Nail Preparation

Working on the natural nail in its dry state allows for greater control and precision throughout the preparation process.

03

Precision E-File Work

Specialized e-file tools are used with controlled detail to refine the nail area and carefully remove excess dead tissue around the nail.

04

Shape & Refinement

Each nail is shaped and balanced individually, creating a clean, beautifully proportioned foundation.

05

Nail Plate Preparation

The nail surface is gently refined, cleansed and prepared for optimal product application and adhesion.

06

Structured Builder Gel

HEMA-Free Builder Gel is applied to create strength, structure and a smooth, beautifully balanced shape while supporting the natural nail.

07

Color & Finish

Your selected gel color is applied with particular attention to the nail line, followed by a high-shine finishing layer.

08

Finishing Care

The nails are inspected for balance and detail before the surrounding skin is conditioned and the service is completed.
